First Time Drawing with a Graphics Tablet
Recently, I wanted to learn 3D Modeling and needed to become proficient with a graphics tablet. So, I thought of using Sai2 to draw a sketch for practice. Although I didn't graduate from an art-related major, I have a certain foundation in art; I studied drawing for many years as a hobby when I was a child, which can be considered a bit of a head start. This is my first time using both a graphics tablet and Sai2, so I’d like to share my initial impressions.
Using a graphics tablet for the first time felt a bit awkward. Compared to drawing on paper where what you see is what you get, using a graphics tablet separates your eyes from your hands. However, adapting wasn't difficult; it took about ten minutes to get used to it. It's somewhat similar to how mobile FPS players adapt to keyboard and mouse FPS.
Upon using Sai2 for the first time, I immediately experienced its convenience. Being able to zoom, move, and rotate while drawing is incredibly satisfying. However, the eraser isn't as effective as when drawing on paper; it erases too cleanly. I believe Sai2 must have a solution for this, but I just don't know it yet. I've seen many skilled artists use Sai2 for character illustrations, and I hope to learn how to use Sai2 effectively as well.
Finally, I colored the hair black. For convenience, I chose a large pencil size, but I didn't expect it to turn out so dark. I had to use a deep yellow to simulate scattering to avoid it looking too flat. However, the style of the face and the hair still looks different.
