A Taobao Product Cover

Due to poverty, I had to start a Taobao store business, and because of poverty, I couldn't afford a designer, so I had to make the cover myself.

Due to work reasons, I have now transitioned to working on the Windows platform. WSL2 can meet daily office needs, but the productivity software Sketch on Mac cannot be used. Fortunately, there is now a vector drawing tool called Lunacy on Windows that is compatible with Sketch. This cover was made using Lunacy. I have to complain that Lunacy has serious issues with supporting Chinese fonts. Some fonts I installed cannot be used, and the latest version 8.0 crashes when selecting Chinese fonts, so definitely do not upgrade to 8.0.

The product is Minecraft server rental, so it was natural to use game materials from Minecraft.

To make the font more readable, I added a layer of semi-transparent overlay to reduce the contrast issues caused by the inconsistent background colors, along with the promotional text.

I sent it to my colleagues for feedback.

The feedback came from a newly hired Gen Z employee, who is characterized by their tendency to criticize the boss anytime, anywhere, and they enjoy teaching the boss how to do things. I can't tell if this is an age characteristic or a generational trait, but I have already adapted to it.

However, one thing is certain: they just expressed their inner thoughts, and the quality of the draft is still not good enough. I need to continue improving it.

I accidentally saw a link in a designer's WeChat group: https://alibabafont.taobao.com/

There was an article titled "Store Fonts." I clicked in and found many promotional images for reference. I picked one.

I created one based on that. Of course, due to Lunacy's poor support for Chinese fonts and considering my financial situation, I couldn't afford font licensing, so I chose the Source Han font (思源字体) which has an English name.

The comic lines were made by inserting adjusted triangles one by one. After finishing, I felt the visual impact was still not strong enough, and the colors were a bit monotonous, so I made some adjustments.

When I reduced the size, it was hard to see the dark embellishments. So I modified it again.

Finally, I sent it to my colleagues for another look.

I saved some money for my poverty and also gained recognition from my Gen Z colleague.
